In ancient times jewelry had the special magic meaning. Nowadays they still have. Jewelry has been used as amulets (as they named it in Russia obereg). It is necessary mention that women clothes had much more jewelry on them, then men clothes did. Women destined for giving birth, meant to be more sacred creation then men. Therefore woman needed to be more guarded. Ancient Russians believed, that it is important to secure different openings in humans bodies, to prevent soul leaving the body or evil magic penetrate in it. Besides, it was essential to secure feet and hands, which are most vulnerable to wounds and bruises. It was imperative to guard energetic centers and canals of human body, at least. Finger-ring and bracelets was meant to protect human's hands. The word finger-ring nowadays means the for finger jewel with the mounted stone. The place of semi-precious stones origin is not universal, that's why stones was used mostly by people of Siberia and Ural Region. Semi-precious stones was imported to the ancient Slavonic states and have been called "zhukovinya". The word "busi " in its modern meaning is used from XVII century. Before that , Slavonic people called that decoration necklace. In ancient times "busi" was meant to secure human soul from evil spirits. Earrings (or temporal rings which were used instead, among the ancient Slavonic) were born by women in their nubility, when their health needed more attention. Old women, stopped wearing luxury decorated temporal rings gave them to their daughters. On these pages we present decorations made of wood and semiprecious stones.
