In compliance with ancient traditions Russians mark the celebration of Easter with presented colored eggs to each other. This tradition was also popular with the Russian ruling house: the colored eggs were presented to boyars and russian nobility. In addition to natural eggs, there were extensively used eggs made of different materials.

Record of Easter Lacquered Eggs has been dated from 16 century. The Lacquered eggs with vegetable ornament had been fulfilled at court of Alexei Michailovich. The eggs are making of linden prime coating, painting, lacquering many times and polishing.

Complication consists in to finch balance between the form of egg and drawing. Harmony of the form and drawing is the main attainment of the painter.

There are the some directions in painting of eggs.

They are:fairy-tale subjects in style of Fedoskino, Mstera, Choluj, Palech; icons ( Mstera, Choluj, Palech, Vladimir school). They use the traditional Orthodox icons; flowers - painting of flowers, bouquets, garlands in style of Zhostovo; matryoshkas.

Besides there are the "egg-lable" and "pisanka-egg". Egg-lables is distinguishing of cheapest prices. The main drawing is lable (icon or fairy-tale). It is sticking on the egg. The backgrounds and vegetable ornaments are painting by hand. The "pisanka-eggs" are distinguishing of traditional reach heathen ornament with two, three or four colors.
